Ristek Berdiri sejak tahun 1962 dengan nama Kementerian Urusan Riset Nasional Republik Indonesia , kemudian pada tahun 1973 berubah nama menjadi Menteri Negara Riset. Tahun 1986-2001 menjadi Menteri Negara Riset dan Teknologi, dan tahun 2002 sesuai Surat Edaran Menteri Negara Pendayagunaan Aparatur Negara perihal Penamaan Instansi Pemerintah, Kantor Menteri Negara disebut dengan Kementerian Riset dan Teknologi. Pada tahun 2005 berdasarkan Peraturan Presiden No. 9 Tahun 2005 Institusi ini disebut Kementerian Negara Riset dan Teknologi (KNRT) atau dengan sebutan Kementerian Negara Ristek. |
